Who Are We, You Ask?

Although hard to describe, we are a very much like the following:

Presbyterian

Our polity is deliberately presbyterian, and we like it that way.  Not that we view the model of presbyterian ecclesiology as somehow superior, but it keeps church bodies, sessions, and presbyteries accountable to one another.  The individualistic mindset of American-ism has caused churches to be silos and when something happens (whether egregious or not), congregationalism style churches have no upwards appeal or help.  We all heard stories about Covid churches that forced members to do things they were against their conscience.  There is no way to appeal to a higher authority in congregationalism.

Biblical

We love both the presentation and celebration of biblical truth as the source of a fruitful life together

Melodious

We sing psalms and hymns loudly, frequently, joyfully, and thoughtfully.

Hospitable

We take the Bible’s exhortation to be hospitable with heart-felt seriousness.

Structured by Authority

We joyfully recognize and affirm that the created world is hierarchical by nature and cannot be understood or subdued (per Gen. 1:26-28, cf. Matt. 28:18-20) apart from this recognition.  It's not whether, but which.  Everyone has an authority.  If Christ is your authority, follow Him.  If man is your authority, follow him.

Scholarly

We think often and rigorously about life, and we believe that in order to fulfill the Dominion Mandate and the Great Commission the method of educating our children must be given due consideration. Our conviction is that, whether at home or through an institution, a Classical and Christian education best prepares the next generation for faithful service to Christ, and we oppose in principle government sponsored, subsidized, or regulated education.

Feasting

Whether it follows worship on the Lord’s Day or not, feasting, fellowship, fun, and games regularly characterize our congregation.
